Women of the Word is a wonderful text I would recommend to women seeking more structure and guidance in their study time of the Word and ultimately strengthening their knowledge and relationship with the Lord.

I have been more encouraged to purchase a study Bible and truly take in the entire perspective of the Word and how each story is about God. Women of the Word has encouraged me to be a better teacher within small group study and also within my own independent studying. Wilkin’s includes some personal experiences, models a portion of Scripture with her studying method, and encourages the reader to spend more quality time with the Word. Women of the Word encourages the reader to be more deliberate with their study of the Bible through means of studying with purpose, perspective, patience, process, and prayer. I have been guilty of reading the Bible for overall comprehension of the text rather than really desiring a deeper knowledge of when the book was written, who the audience was, and how it all is part of the Big Story of God. Wilkin’s book serves as one which not to simply read and place on a bookshelf, but rather one to continuously go to for support and guidance when digging deeper in the Word. Jen Wilkin’s Women of the Word was recommended by a friend who later purchased the book for me and I am very grateful to have dug into this text.
